Speaker Biography: David has over 30 years’ experience in airport masterplanning, terminal area planning and design on major international airport projects in North America, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Europe. He has been responsible for the management of a wide range of airport projects from specialised studies for component infrastructure to world-class airport mega-projects. As Head of Airport Development for IATA, David is responsible for the Association’s interface with airports worldwide. IATA’s main activities include professional contributions to major airport projects, ensuring that the aviation industry receives value for money for the investments being made in airport infrastructure. David’s familiarity with both planning and operation of airports from the perspective of the airline community, the airport owner/operator and as a professional consultant has proved beneficial to international airport and aviation clients.
 
Arturo Garcia-Alonso, Assistant Director, Facilitation and Airport IT, ACI World, Canada

Speaker Biography: Arturo began work at ACI World in April 2008. He joined ACI from SENASA, the safety, security and technical services arm of the Spanish Civil Aviation Authority. Arturo holds a Master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, with special focus on Airport Design, and a postgraduate degree in Occupational Health. His previous experience includes an internship position in Aena Aeropuertos; airport planning consultancy; and ground handling process re-engineering with Acciona Airport Services. At ACI World Arturo is focused on a range of facilitation, information technology, innovation, health, operational security and service quality issues, taking the role of Secretary to the ACI World Airport IT and Facilitation & Services Standing Committees, managing the ACI ACRIS initiative, and serving as ACI Airport Service Quality (ASQ) training instructor. Arturo became an ICAO AVSEC Professional Manager in 2009, obtained the EFQM Excellence Assessor degree in 2010 and the ICAO-ACI AMPAP Associate Diploma in 2011.
 
Steve Riano, Aviation Practice Leader, Bechtel Corporation, USA

Speaker Biography: Steve is Aviation Practice Leader for Bechtel Corporation’s Project Planning & Development group, which provides strategic planning and technical support for all of Bechtel’s airport projects worldwide. He has over 30 years of professional planning and architectural design experience, and has served as Strategic Planning Manager for London Gatwick Airport, and Concept Design Manager for Hamad International Airport, a new $16 billion greenfield airport in Doha, Qatar. Steve is a Registered Architect in California, USA, and a graduate of California Polytechnic State University. He is a member of Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) World Business Partners, the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), and serves on the Board of Directors for Airport Consultants Council (ACC). He is a past Chair of ACC’s Project Delivery Committee, the immediate past Committee Lead for ACC’s 2012 Global Business Summit, and the current Chair of ACC’s Globalization Committee.
