Speaker Biograghy:
James is the Global Aviation Director at Woods Bagot, an award-winning top-10 firm of architects and designers with studios in Europe, North America, China, Australia and the Middle East. James has spent the last 30 years of his career working on major, complex transport and infrastructure projects from the $18 billion Crossrail project in London to the $9 billion T5 development at Heathrow. He spent 10 years leading the design of T5, and more recently is leading the planning and design work as part of the major $3 billion redevelopment of Perth Airport. He also recently led the competition-winning team for the first stage of the $2 billion 'Project Switch' at the Sydney Airport T2/T3 campus, and completed the new International Terminal in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Synopsis: Perth is the fastest-growing airport in Australia, fuelled by the oil, gas and mining boom. It has a $3 billion investment programme over the next five to 10 years. This is the fascinating story of the development of the airport since its original beginnings, and how this has been informed by economic, social and sporting events as well as changes in ownership structure. This presentation will show how the vision was collaboratively developed for the major expansion of the airport over the next two decades, and how this has been informed by a significant global benchmarking exercise.
