Speaker Biograghy:
T J Schulz serves as the President of the Airport Consultants Council (ACC), the international association that represents private-sector companies involved in the development and operations of airports and related facilities. His duties include routinely interfacing with aviation-related government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the US Congress concerning high-priority technical, regulatory and legislative issues. He was instrumental in the formation of the Security Manufacturers Coalition (SMC), an organisation of security technology manufacturers formed under ACC, and he currently serves as Director of the coalition. The SMC represents the interests of US-based security technology manufacturers, and advocates issues relating to improving the development and acquisition of security equipment and fostering international harmonisation of standards. He frequently engages in technical discussions with TSA programme offices to effect improvements in the technology development and acquisition process.

Synopsis: Efforts are under way by the US, EU, Canada and Australia to harmonise the screening of liquids, aerosols and gels at passenger checkpoints. What are the prospects and obstacles in implementing a harmonised approach? Are there opportunities to implement additional passenger processing standards, such as carry-on baggage and checked baggage? This session will focus on the technology and operational considerations facing international stakeholders in a quest to unify security standards and practices.
