17:15 - 17:40 - Airport safety: current and future trends at international airports
Synopsis: European aeronautical security agencies have been increasing the amount of pressure on ICAO member countries regarding the adaptation of their airport facilities and procedures to ICAO standards. The member states are required to generate coherent state regulations following ICAO documentation. The larger the list of safe airports becomes, the more we see the benefits of this pressure. Achieving this certification entails an enormous amount of work, with certain processes needing to be standardised. Once this objective has been reached, levels of safety must be improved on a daily basis, with the use of new technologies an ever-important factor.
