Speaker Biograghy: Ilmari has worked at Vantaa Innovation Institute since 2011. His work has consisted of combining the products and services of Finnish airport industry firms into complete service concepts. He was also project manager of the Relaxation Area project at Helsinki Airport in the autumn of 2013. He holds an MSc in Aeronautical Engineering from Aalto University School of Engineering, Helsinki, and has published an article in the Journal of Airport Management. At the moment he is looking for cooperation possibilities in the airport region.

15:15 - 15:45 - The importance of Helsinki Airport to city development
Synopsis: The City of Vantaa started to develop an airport city concept in the early 1990s to obtain economic benefits from the airport. The airport is located in an excellent place in the Helsinki region. Due to good results of cooperation between various stakeholders, the city has managed to invite domestic and international business next to the airport. The airport has had no rail connection so far. The missing rail link is now under construction and will be opened in July 2015. This Ring Rail Line will also have large impacts on city development.
