Speaker Biograghy: As a Senior Architect, Jan has broad experience in the design of complex buildings where functionality and logistics go hand in hand with ambiance and experience. Jan started as a designer of commercial real estate and retail projects. After that he worked as a lead architect on healthcare and leisure projects, and was involved with the design of several hospitals in the Netherlands and Belgium. For seven years he was a lecturer in the faculty of Architecture of the Technical University in Delft. At NACO Jan is involved with a wide range of airport projects. He is driven by his fascination for architecture and complex processes in buildings for people. Passengers’ experience and cultural characteristics are his inspirations for architectural design. Recently Jan was responsible for the architectural design for terminal buildings at Kilimanjaro Airport and Krasnodar Airport, and for private aviation facilities in Saudi Arabia.

09:30 - 09:55 - Redefining the kerb – new insights into GTC design
Synopsis: The airport terminal experience is changing rapidly as contemporary passenger processing offers new ways of designing the airport terminal and especially its kerb. As airports are becoming destinations for travel, leisure, retail and business, the GTC is where all of the energy and airport landside development is focusing. At the crossroads between the airport terminal and the airport city, new GTC design concepts could offer opportunities for airport development. Moreover, recent trends in passenger processing will allow for greater integration of airport terminal and kerbside development; a new dimension to the passenger experience with great impact on architectural design.
