Speaker Biograghy: John has responsibility for the management of IT projects within Dublin Operations as well as the development of innovative passenger processes and technologies aimed at improving the end-to-end passenger experience at Dublin Airport. He joined the DAA in 1973 and during that time has served in a number of roles within finance, IT and airport operations. Since joining Dublin Airport John has been involved in a wide range of key projects, from the introduction of the first local area network at the airport back in the early 1980s to the delivery of financial systems, airport operational databases, a corporate data warehouse, business intelligence dashboards, the introduction of e-gates at security screening, and queue measurement and passenger tracking systems.

Synopsis: In common with most airports, DAA has a wide range of systems capturing large volumes of data; and like most airports, we often struggle to convert this data into meaningful information. Where good information does exist, it is often stored on standalone systems. Dublin Airport has embarked on a journey to transform these data silos into true business intelligence that can be tailored for multiple audiences and provides a single source of truth for historic, live and predictive information through the use of our Corporate Data Warehouse and our front-end business intelligence tool (Targit).

Audience will learn:

• How we selected the appropriate technology – do we build or do we buy?
• What systems/data streams we selected and how they help us better understand and manage the passenger journey
• How we are taking data from multiple sources and presenting as one
• How we are automating the reporting process and moving away from the dependency on tools like Excel for report development
