Speaker Biograghy: Robert has extensive experience with airports and airlines in planning and operations for large and medium hub airports. His expertise spans all aspects of aviation management. He has served in a number of senior management positions including Director in charge of large airline operations in three airports, one with 500 flights per day. His airport experience includes leadership in the successful opening of the largest international terminal in the USA, with a budget of $2.5bn. He led San Francisco International Airport’s post 9/11 security effort by acquiring US government funding and installing the first and largest comprehensive Transportation Security Act compliant 100% explosive detection system in the United States.

Synopsis: There are now more than 50 'smart' baggage handling systems (BHS) deployed worldwide using RFID and individual container technology. These systems are capable of tracking baggage through multiple processes and changes of custody. They associate with the passenger and provide valuable information that supports operational improvements. These systems have been and are being installed at virtually all major airports worldwide. However, there is not a single system of this type in the United States. It's time to get smart!
