Jim Robinson, Strategic Aviation Advisor, Arup, United Arab Emirates

Speaker Biograghy: Jim is part of Arup’s Global Aviation Planning Practice as a Senior Strategic Advisor. Prior to joining Arup he was the Head of Airport Planning for Dubai Airports for five years. His department is responsible for airport planning matters for both Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airports, including updates of the master plans, terminal and facility development planning, airfield planning and regional land use compatibility issues. Prior to joining Dubai Airports he served as Airport Planning Manager for the Abu Dhabi Airport Company. In addition, he was a Principal at Leigh Fisher, where he led the terminal planning practice. He has been involved in major airport development programmes and management consulting at Atlanta, Columbus, Harrisburg, Los Angeles, New York (JFK and Newark) Raleigh-Durham and St. Louis international airports, among others.

Synopsis: As air travel becomes more of a commodity, we are faced with the challenges of congestion in both airspace and in the various passenger processes in the terminal. As we try to overcome these challenges and strive towards the airport of the future, the industry needs to overcome a fundamental challenge, namely, the need for collaboration among stakeholders. This is the core roadblock to achieving real advances in airport development. This presentation discusses the challenges faced by the aviation sector and presents a strategic approach to achieve true collaboration among the key stakeholders.
