Steve Zerkowitz, Group CEO, Director BluSky ATM, BluSky Services Group, Belgium

Speaker Biograghy: Steve started his career as an air traffic controller, obtaining tower and approach ratings, including radar. He was also an examiner and instructor. Ever keen to explore new challenges, after almost two decades in ATC he exchanged the microphone for the position of technical officer at the European and North Atlantic office of ICAO in Paris. This was followed by several years in Amsterdam, where he worked as a process specialist, helping to build the new ATC system. Next came the position of assistant director with IATA in Brussels. There he was responsible for the introduction of advanced concepts like CDM and SWIM. Building on his experience, Steve established BluSky Services 12 years ago. BluSky has become synonymous with forward thinking and a tendency to seek solutions where no one has gone before. The ultimate in thinking out of the box, if you like.

Day 1 - 10 March
Session:
Management & Operations

12:25 - 12:50 - Trajectory-based operations and service orientation in passenger operations
Synopsis: One of the main problems preventing the introduction of effective solutions in many organisations, airports included, is the persistence of a kind of silo mentality that forces organisational priorities to drive efficiency rather than the other way round. Experience with efforts to eliminate the silos reveals that traditional ideas and thinking are not enough to break the existing less-than-ideal situation. Using a new view acts as a catalyser: people suddenly emerge from the silos, finally breaking them down completely. This is not a revolution – just a new look at things. Plenty to see there!
