Speaker Biograghy: Christina joined Koch+Partner Architects in 2004. Since then she has focused on planning and designing airports. Hers resumé includes masterplanning, urban redevelopment, residential projects and airport design. In addition to competitions and masterplans for new airports, she rearranged Munich Airport Terminal 2 security check, which was necessary because of new regulations for liquids. Since 2011 she has been the leading architect for the refurbishment of Hanover Airport Terminal A, where not only passenger security but also comfort and retail have profited by the reorganisation. She enjoys collaborating with informed clients and the common interest in passenger comfort.

12:20 - 12:45 - Refurbishment of Hanover Airport Terminal A – undergoing open-heart surgery
Synopsis: Hanover Airport, a typical German 1970s airport with growing passenger numbers, is being prepared for the future. It has been refurbished to meet the challenges of rising demand, especially concerning security and passenger comfort. After extensive preliminary studies, the reconstruction of Terminal A is the first step towards a sustainable future for Hanover as a location for business. In addition to the technical adjustments, the targets were to install clear routing, spacious waiting areas and an attractive retail space. The restoration was realised exactly in the predefined and time limit.
