Richard Kennedy, Co-Chief Operating Officer, Skanska USA, USA

Speaker Biograghy: Richard is the Chief Operating Officer for Skanska USA’s building operations in New York City, and a member of Skanska’s senior leadership team in the United States. During his tenure with the company he has served as a board member of various Skanska business units across its global operations. He is currently a member of the company’s Ethics and Compliance Committee, which focuses on ensuring ethical business practices within Skanska and advocating for such practices in the industry. A 20-year veteran of the construction industry, Richard joined Skanska in 2004 and has overseen some of the company's largest and most high-profile projects in recent years, including the US$1.7bn renovation of the United Nations Headquarters in New York City and the US$1.2bn MetLife Stadium, a project delivered under a design-build arrangement to create the new home of the New York Giants and New York Jets professional football teams. Richard is an active design and construction industry participant and currently serves as the Co-Chair of the New York Building Congress Healthcare Committee, Treasurer and Executive Committee Member of the Building Trades Employers’ Association of New York City and Finance Committee Chairman and Executive Committee Member of the New York City ACE Mentor Programme, whose mission is to encourage high school students to enter the fields of architecture, construction and engineering.

10:05 - 10:35 - Panel Discussion: Role of A/E on alternative delivery projects
Synopsis: The increasing popularity of design/build projects and the emergence of public-private partnerships (P3) as credible alternative delivery methods is, in a number of important ways, redefining the way in which A/E teams interface and collaborate with the builder(s). The ability of all these entities to adapt themselves to the fully integrated delivery mindset can be the difference between success and failure. This session will focus on some key considerations in this regard, and on the teaming characteristics that such projects require.
