Solomon Wong, Executive Vice President, InterVISTAS, Canada

Speaker Biograghy: Solomon is an expert on the evolution of pre-clearance. He is the lead for a practice that is specialised in new solutions for border facilitation, and has worked at most of the current 15 sites. He has helped conceptualise new ideas for processing bags, passengers, retail and security screening. The business cases that Solomon led have created improved facilities and increased airline competitiveness, including new pre-clearance sites in Halifax and Shannon, Ireland. Solomon is the Principal Investigator for a major study on US Federal Inspection Services best practices for facilities, which will be completed in 2016. An urban planner by training, Solomon has written a number of white papers on behalf of clients for improved border processing, elimination of re-screening and other risk-based process changes.

15:15 - 15:40 - Opportunities for evolving border pre-clearance
Synopsis: The USA has over 60 years of history in border pre-clearance, starting with Toronto in 1952. In 2015, additional sites were named to reach an overall objective for pre-clearance for a third of travellers to the United States by 2024. Meanwhile, a number of other countries have implemented advanced solutions, such as Happy Flow in Aruba. The combination of technologies, improved processing and advanced clearance will revolutionise the process in terminals, as well as the market opportunity for connections. Solomon will speak about how airport designers, terminal operators and security officials will deal with the upcoming changes.
