Jakup Sverri Kass, CEO, Vagar Airport, Faroe Islands

Speaker Biograghy: Jakup graduated from Aarhus University, Denmark, in 2006. From 2006 to 2009 he was Director, Sales and Marketing at Smyril Line (a ferry operator sailing the North Atlantic). From 2009 to 2012 he was the Director, Sales and Marketing at Atlantic Airways. Since 2012 he has been CEO at Vagar Airport on the Faroe Islands. Vagar Airport has experienced a big growth in passenger figures since the extension of the runway in 2011. Passenger figures have increased from 203,000 in 2011 to 250,000 in 2014. Growth in 2015 was 10.4%, taking the total passenger figure to 276,000. The success has been followed by a brand-new terminal that was inaugurated in June 2014. The new terminal and new facilities around the terminal have boosted non-aeronautical revenue. The new non-aeronautical revenue has resulted in the airport being able to reduce passenger fees and introduce new incentive schemes.
