Speaker Biograghy: Robert has experience with airports and airlines in planning and operations for large and medium hub airports. His expertise spans all aspects of aviation management. He has served in a number of senior management positions including Director in charge large airline operations in three airports, including one airport with 500 flights per day. His airport experience includes leadership in the successful opening of the largest international terminal in the United States, with a budget of US$2.5bn. He led San Francisco International Airport’s post 9/11 security effort by acquiring US Government funding and installing the first and largest comprehensive Transportation Security Act-compliant 100% explosive detection system in the United States.

12:45 - 13:10 - Time for 'smart' BHS in the USA – one year later
Synopsis: Last year at Passenger Terminal CONFERENCE we said that at that time there were more than 50 'smart' baggage handling systems (BHS) deployed worldwide using RFID and individual container technology. These systems are capable of tracking baggage through multiple processes and changes of custody; associate with the passenger and provide valuable information that supports operational improvements. Last year these systems were being installed at virtually all major airports worldwide, but not one in the United States. The presentation will look at what has changed since last year.
