12:35 - 13:00 - Benefits of EASA rules beyond Europe – DXB case study
Synopsis: The aerodrome regulations (Regulation EU No 139/2014) prepared by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) are now in force in all EASA member states. For aerodromes within the scope of the regulations, these new standards supersede the national implementation of ICAO requirements. The new regulations constitute a paradigm shift, as aerodrome operators are now required to demonstrate compliance based on documentation. However, there are also opportunities as aerodromes may use alternative means than the one proposed by EASA to comply with a rule, and deviations to the applicable specifications for airport planning can be tolerated in a defined manner.
