Speaker Biograghy: Michael is the Vice President of Aviation & Transportation Services, with over 20 years' fire protection industry experience. He has been involved in numerous airport projects in the USA and internationally, looking at the issues of smoke control, occupant evacuation and notification, hazard analysis and operational procedures. He has developed the performance requirements for dynamic evacuation signage systems and has worked to evaluate the capabilities of devices provided from a range of equipment manufacturers. His expertise includes conducting performance-based evaluations and risk analysis of iconic structures such as the Statue of Liberty and US Capitol. Michael is a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Smoke Management Systems and is a co-author of the ASHRAE / SFPE Smoke Control Handbook.

The presentation discusses the benefits of integrating the mass notification system (MNS), fire alarm system and public address system (audio/video) at airport facilities for effective emergency communications, with a look at why this approach makes sense from business, public safety and airport operations perspectives.
