Nancy Baggio, Manager, Engineering Planning, Vancouver Airport Authority, Canada

Speaker Biograghy: Nancy leads a team that provides analytical process and demand assessments for airport facilities. She is extremely proud of the work her team has produced since its inception in 2011. They have worked together to leverage airport data and their knowledge of the airport operation to develop unique airport simulation models that allow them to predict the peak demand for key process areas. With the outputs generated, they have been able to provide a solid analytical justification for several operational strategies and capital projects. Prior to joining the Engineering Department, Nancy working in Airport Operations. Her operations management experience provided her with a solid understanding of airport processes and the airport business. Nancy has been part of the Vancouver Airport team since 2006. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science, Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Day 3 - 17 March
Session:
Airport Design, Planning & Development

09:05 - 09:30 - Simulation modelling and leveraging airport data for airport planning
Synopsis: Presentation on the development of a simulation model that replicates the flow of passengers and baggage through our airport. This may sound like a routine effort in planning; however, what differentiates our work is the fact that we have leveraged the use of airport data mined from our various systems to provide very specific schedule and process inputs to our model. This presentation will take the audience through our development process, including how we have leveraged the use of airport data to providing meaningful input schedules. It will also provide some specific examples of our project outputs.
