Scott Gibbons, Vice President of Administration, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, USA

Speaker Biograghy: Scott has been employed by Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport since 2002, and is currently the Vice President of Administration, a position he has held since 2011. Scott has been actively involved in Airports Council International (ACI) since 2006 and is currently a member of ACI’s Insurance & Risk Management Committee Steering Group. Scott holds a Master’s degree in Air Transportation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and has served as an adjunct instructor for Embry-Riddle’s Cincinnati Area Campus. Scott also holds a Master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Justice & Safety. Scott became an Accredited Airport Executive in 2009 and earned the International Airport Professional designation in 2013. Prior to joining CVG, Scott was employed by the City of Newport, KY. Personal fact: Scott enjoys hiking in the US National Parks with his wife and three children. They’ve hiked in 27 of the 59 parks.

10:00 - 10:30 - A case study in airport strategic planning
Synopsis: Strategic planning can be defined as the process undertaken by an organisation to define its future and formulate a roadmap to guide it there. Theoretically, the strategic plan should set forth the foundation for every organisational initiative and action. For example, at airports, the strategic plan should drive results in the areas of planning, capital investment, operations, customer services and employee relations. Yet the strategic planning process has not been widely embraced in the airport industry. This case study will demonstrate how an airport’s new strategic plan provided direction, alignment and accountability, both internally and externally.
