Cluj International Airport

Speaker Biograghy: David has been CEO of Cluj-Napoca International Airport since 1995. During his tenure he has striven to transform the airport in one of the busiest regional hubs in Romania. Currently, the airport is the second biggest in the country, serving more than 1.5 million passengers. David graduated in 1991 from the Faculty for Aircraft Engineering, Polytechnic University of Bucharest. He holds a PhD in Airport Management from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania (2014), and two MBAs – from Open University, Milton Keynes, Great Britain (2003) and John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, Montreal (2006). In 2009 David became International Airport Professional President of the Romanian Airports Association. He has been a member of the ACI Europe Board since 2011, and Vice President of the IAP-CoP Board of Directors since 2012.

11:30 - 12:00 - The importance of intermodal projects for small airports
Synopsis: Intermodal projects for regional airports have become a mandatory objective. The main beneficiaries will be airports, airlines and passengers, but also many secondary stakeholders: railway companies, community, bus companies and so on. Designing and implementing an intermodal project is a challenging task due to the high number of stakeholders, financing issues, competition, lack of understanding and complexity. Implementing the intermodal project for Cluj International Airport, which will welcome more than two million passengers in 2017, will be a challenging task, but one of the main drivers of future development.
