Anthony Loui, Community Planner, United States Department of Transportation, USA

Speaker Biograghy: Anthony has more than 20 years' experience in the field of city planning, architecture, urban design, transportation planning, policy and implementation. He works for the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), and is a Community Planner at USDOT’s Federal Transit Administration. He is responsible for evaluating and recommending new public transportation investments nationwide, including commuter rail, urban rail and bus transit projects. Anthony also participates in other policy initiatives undertaken by the administration, including public-private partnership arrangements, transit-orientated development policies and intermodal policy development. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design from the University of Hawaii and a Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of California, Los Angeles.

Synopsis: Air-rail corridors are major transportation corridors containing airline and passenger rail services in the same corridor. These corridors connect many airports, transportation centres and cities to a region. Direct connections are also made outside these corridors to other transportation services worldwide. Major investments are needed to maintain the connectivity, sustainability, access, safety and reliability of air-rail corridors to promote the economic vitality and growth of the regions they serve. This presentation will highlight current investment activities in several air-rail corridors identified in North America, and plans for future growth.
