Krishan Tangri, General Manager - Assets, Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Ltd, Australia

Speaker Biograghy: Krishan has an MBA (Master's in Finance), Master of Construction Management and Bachelor of Engineering degrees. With over 25 years' infrastructure, facilities asset management and construction management experience, he has held senior management positions in facilities and construction management with Sydney Airport Corporation and Brisbane City Council. At Sydney Airport he orchestrated and implemented an innovative multimillion-dollar comprehensive facilities management contract and successfully directed delivery of a large and ambitious capital investment programme of A$600m over three years in a complex operating environment of the airport. In his last position with Brisbane City Council, he was Project Director of the iconic Brisbane City Hall Restoration project. Currently Krishan is responsible for delivery of a challenging investment programme including runway, facilities management and provision of ICT services at the airport.

14:30 - 15:00 - Constructing a new runway at Brisbane Airport – challenges and opportunities
Synopsis: With the first phase of the project successfully completed, construction on the 3.3km-long New Parallel Runway (NPR) at Brisbane Airport is due to commence soon, with a target date of opening the runway by September 2020. The runway had been in planning for more than 10 years and will cost A$1.4bn. This presentation examines the challenges and opportunities of planning, designing and constructing a runway on very poor-quality ground by a privatised airport with a strong focus on project governance and optimum project cost outcomes.
