Alan Xavier Tan, Vice President Aerodrome Safety & Aviation Security, Changi Airport Group (Singapore) Pte Ltd, Singapore

Speaker Biograghy: As VP Aerodrome Safety & Avsec, Alan is responsible for directing, planning and coordinating activities of aviation security policies and compliance. He is also responsible for implementing security enhancement and developmental projects, managing the contracted security services, undertaking aviation security audits and inspection, and promoting security culture and awareness. He is also overseeing the security requirements and implementation for some of Changi’s infrastructure developments and passenger services projects. He is Chairman of the ACI World Security Standing Committee and also a member of the SMART Security Management Group. Alan also oversees the Aerodrome Safety Unit and is responsible for Changi’s Safety Management System. The unit aims to drive a strong safety culture and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain the high safety standard of airport operations. Before CAG, Alan was a senior police officer and held various key appointments in his 12 years with the Singapore Police Force.

10:10 - 10:40 - Coping with emerging threats – an airport operator’s perspective
Synopsis: Recent security incidents have pointed towards emerging threats in the aviation sector. As the aviation industry beefs up its protection against unlawful intervention in aircraft and its core hardware, the perpetrators are choosing easier targets (soft targets) like landside. However, are traditional threats less real? There have also been security incidents pointing towards airport staff colluding with such perpetrators in those cases. How can we deal with them?
