Joe Franzi, First Assistant Secretary Identity & Biometrics, Department of Immigration & Border Protection, Australia

Speaker Biograghy: Joe joined the Department of Immigration & Border Protection (DIBP) in April 2016 on promotion to Senior Executive Service Level Two, to head up the Identity & Biometrics Division. He had a short secondment to the National Security College after a career working in various parts of the Australian intelligence and security community. Prior to joining DIBP, he was the Assistant Secretary Cyber Security at the Australian Signals Directorate 2011-2016, which included leading the principal defence contribution to the new Australian Cyber Security Centre. Joe’s career has included over 38 years’ experience in intelligence and security domains. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management from Flinders University; Certificates of Completion for the Senior Executive in National and International Security, and Senior Executive Cyber Security programmes from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and Executive Education, Harvard University.
