Speaker Biograghy: As Head of Group Security and Facilitation, Steve is responsible for the protection of Qantas’s assets, customers and staff, and ensuring that Qantas’s activities comply with relevant laws and aviation security and facilitation policies and programmes. To achieve this, Steve has overall responsibility for all operational and strategic security and facilitation functions throughout the Qantas Group, in Australia and overseas. Prior to joining Qantas Steve enjoyed a career with the Australian Federal Police spanning some 22 years. During his AFP career he played key command roles across a wide range of policing functions. He was the AFP’s operational commander for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the Field Commander during the joint AFP/Indonesian National Police investigation following the Bali bombings in 2002. Steve was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his work in Indonesia.
