RULES Green Engine of the Year: To qualify for inclusion in this category, an engine must have been housed in a passenger car that was on sale in more than one country as of May 2011, and have been designed with fuel economy as a priority, as well as employ intelligent technologies and engine subsystems to reduce all types of emissions, including particulate matter and NOx. Best Performance Engine: To qualify for inclusion in this category, an engine must have been housed in a passenger car that was on sale in more than one country as of May 2011, and have been designed specifically for a performanceorientated car, or be installed in a vehicle designed for sporting fun. Best New Engine 2011: To qualify for inclusion in this category, an engine must have been launched after June 2010 and be housed in a passenger car that was on sale in more than one country as of May 2011.
